Role in project: principal investigator

Vít Vondrák, Ph.D. is the scientific director at IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Center and associate professor at VŠB-Technical University of Ostrava (VSB-TUO). His expertise is in numerical linear algebra, optimization methods, and high performance computing. His working experience also includes several research stays at Aalborg University in Denmark (1997-2007), University of Colorado Boulder (2004) and Stanford University (2006).

He is a member of the PRACE Council (Partnership for Research and Advanced Computing in Europe) representing the Czech Republic in the pan-European HPC infrastructure. He is/was member of management boards and national coordinator of FP7 infrastructure projects PRACE-1IP (2010-2012), PRACE-2IP (2011-2013), PRACE-3IP (2012-2014) and co-investigator of FP7 ICT research project HARPA (2013-2016). The principal investigator of the project of the Large infrastructures of the Czech Republic. Leader of the mathematical modeling group in the center of competence RODOS (http://www.centrum-rodos.eu) – Transport Systems Development Centre funded by Technological Agency of the Czech Republic and FLOREON+ – a modeling and simulation system for disaster management support.

Vít Vondrák is an author of more than 60 scientific papers, 7 papers in journals with impact factor, h-index 4 on WoS.
